Pure Sunfarms D. Bubba Review

SUMMARY
D.Bubba by Pure Sunfarms is a mellow, relaxing indica. PSF has done a good job delivering quality, consistency and value. While it’s not a craft flower, it has a decent cure, nose, and a nice burn. I’d rate this flower a low trip. At the price point, this is a great daily practice option for indica smokers looking for chill vibes.

THE CULTIVATOR
Pure Sunfarms is located in Delta BC, one of the sunniest spots in the Lower mainland. They are greenhouse growers, and have brought in legacy cannabis growers to work alongside their greenhouse experts to produce consistent, quality cannabis products.

LINEAGE
D. Bubba, otherwise known as Death Bubba, is a BC indica that has become internationally famous. A 70/30 indica dominant strain, this flower is a cross between Bubba Kush and Death Star. Trace its roots and you’ll find an all-star lineup of Afghan Indica, OG Kush, Sour Diesel and Sensi Star.

PACKAGING
Like all PSF flower, this product is packaged in mylar. This contributes to affordability for this product line. On the upside, the “gusset” at the base of the bag has been opened, providing more space for the flower. This little detail is pretty important – when I’ve seen damaged flowers in mylar, most often the processor did not open the gusset.

THE NOSE
The nose isn’t huge, but carries the essence of the Death Bubba’s character. This is a far cry from the big gassy nose on the fresh DB we used to get pre-regulation, so we’d expect the effect of this flower to be have a more laid back effect than those examples. According to cannametrics.io, the main terpenes in this flower include Humulene, Caryophyllene, and Bisabolol.

BAG APPEAL
Our eighth consisted of 8 pieces; the weight was 3.6g, always nice to get a little extra. Buds are nicely formed and show no compression, the quality of the buds weren’t compromised by the mylar. The trim is tight, and a squeeze gives a nice nerfy feel and a snap to the stem. The nose isn’t huge, but carries the essence of the Death Bubba’s character.

THE DIGITS
This flower tested at 21% THC with negligible CBD.  The product was packaged March 10th, however we know that if a good product goes in, a good product will come out. So package dates don’t have us as concerned as they used to.

THE CURE
As mentioned, the cure of these flowers is good: the buds don’t break when squeezed, and bounce back to their original shape. When bent, the stem snaps and the bud maintains it’s structure, ie. it doesn’t break up when handled firmly. The buds don’t feel at all sticky or oily, but when rolled showed good binding. The moisture level is on the lower side of the 10-12% ideal range but OK.

THE GRIND
The flower grinds nicely. The moisture level is on the lower end of the spectrum, but still high enough that I didn’t encounter “dry trichome syndrome”, that is a ton of “dust” or trichomes collecting in my grinder.

THE ROLL
After a couple of turns in the paper, t
he ground flower showed some decent stickiness by holding a cylinder shape in the paper. The ground flower held together and rolled easily. There were some brittle trichomes let in the rolling tray.…a little more moisture is all that’s needed.

THE DRY PULL
On the dry pull, a little citrus and spice were evident. It does a decent job representing the D. Bubba strain.

THE BURN
Our D. Bubba burned evenly with a clean ash and smooth smoke. No harshness on the throat or lungs were noticed.

THE EFFECT
For me, this flower was relaxing, quieted the mind, and helped me focus. It hit a nice middle ground: it wasn’t overly sedative, though with a bigger dose or after a few sessions I could see this helping with sleep in the evening. When comparing it to the uber fresh pre reg D.Bubba, the effect is mellower which for me is a good thing!  I sometimes experience the opposite effect from flowers: the pre-reg and very terpy DB hit me like a strong sativa which isn’t always great if you’re looking for a relaxing indica!
